Phoenix, Arizona is a great (and affordable) escape during the winter months. Plenty of farmer’s market to get your fill on fresh fruits and sunshine for your workout/golfing expeditions.
The Farm at South Mountain– very cool outdoor experience, great food, and perfect if you have kids along!
Camelback Mountain– take the Choilla side up the mountain for less tourism/traffic (and to avoid paying a parking fee). Be sure to allow enough time to hike to the top and understand the hike is NOT just a trail but an actual hike. Feel free to check out the video my husband took to get a feel for what you’re in for.
Of note: If walking a trail is more your style be sure to start on the other side of the mountain (Echo Canyon) for an easier incline with side rails to hold for balance.
Also of note: The hike (on the Choilla side) took us roughly 3.5 hours to complete.
We stayed at Legacy Golf Resort which is south of Phoenix and included a kitchenette. It was affordable, included a gym, and minimized the amount of Phoenix traffic we encountered during our stay. If you’re looking for an inexpensive place to stay to “warm up” in the winter check this place out.
